A short list of things I have learned in Slovakia:

Walking is always good, especially when the hotel sells 500 mL bottles of soda for 30 sk, and the nearby convenience store sells 2 L bottles for 39 sk.

I really suck at bridge. And tennis.

Asian females turn bright red, even with a little bit of alcohol. Of course, if the person in question always acts stupid-drunk, gauging the actual amount and effect of the spirits becomes difficult.

Matt Cory is prone to offering religion and oral sex when hammered, not necessarily in that order. In any case, it makes being his roommate creepy as all hell.

Still water is entirely too difficult to find in Europe.

Demie is, by consensus of all persons who have played with her, quite possibly the most irritating partner ever.

There are, in fact, people who are more sexually incompetent than I.

When going waterskiing, it is advisable to ensure that one's swimming trunks are securely fastened around one's waist, lest they slip, tangle, and leave one treading water without the use of one's legs for two minutes while the next person lines up to ski right over one's head.

Also, it is wise to use sunscreen.

Leaving the light on in one's room during the night while the back door is open for ventilation tends to attract a metric fuckton of bugs.

It is, in fact, possible to acquire a language (Icelandic) after hearing it spoken frequently over three or four days.

*sigh* We try to make fun of intelligent design proponents by being ironic, and then someone goes and pulls this shit, and. Yeah.

I know it might be a troll, but still. There are people buying into this bullshit.

I last saw this depicted in a Calvin & Hobbes comic, and I'm not sure about the true origins of the thought, but it was once suggested that the surest sign of intelligent life is that it has no tried to contact us, due to the sheer obnoxiousness of our species. Now I'm thinking that it's just that we don't pose a threat to anyone out there.

In any case, it has been forever since I posted here, which is a bit odd because normally I spampost when I am bored and restless.

I will be leaving for Slovakia on Wednesday for a bridge tournament, and have two weeks there that will probably pass entirely too quickly. Then I will go to Taiwan with my mother, and undoubtedly those two weeks will drag on much like... well, most times when I'm in hearing radius. Because there will be an abundance of things to not-listen to.

I am still trying to secure passage to either of the RSIs.
